Skill Kerala Global Summit 2025 Transforming Kerala into a Global Talent Hub

Kerala is making rapid strides toward becoming a global hub for education and skill development. The Skill Kerala Global Summit 2025, held in Kochi, marked a historic milestone in this journey. The event focused on aligning education with real-world skills, fostering employment opportunities, and preparing Kerala’s workforce for a globalized job market.

A Game-Changing Summit for Kerala’s Future

Organized by the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC), the two-day event brought together global leaders, policymakers, and industry experts.

  • 3,000+ onsite delegates
  • 1 lakh+ virtual participants
  • 57 expert panels & 4 interactive roundtables
  • 200 global speakers from organizations like the World Bank, ILO, ADB, UNDP, and countries including Australia, Singapore, Germany, and the UK

The summit provided a platform to share insights, build partnerships, and shape strategies for Kerala’s transition into a knowledge-driven economy.

Bridging the Gap Between Education and Employment

At the inauguration, Kerala’s Higher Education Minister, R. Bindu, emphasized the need to bridge the gap between academics and industry requirements. She introduced several flagship initiatives, including:

  • Industry on Campus – Connecting students directly with industries
  • Connect Career to Campus (CCC) – Career pathways integrated into higher education
  • ASAP Kerala – Focused on skill training and certification

These initiatives are already supporting 500+ techno-business incubators, while also introducing multidisciplinary degree programs with practical, job-ready skill development.

Vijnana Keralam: A Revolutionary Skilling Program

Kerala’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, launched the Vijnana Keralam Initiative, a transformative step towards creating future-ready professionals.

Key Highlights:

  • 2 lakh final-year students will receive advanced skill training
  • 1 lakh targeted job placements across industries
  • Special programs for homemakers and educated unemployed professionals, making skilling inclusive and accessible to all

This initiative reflects Kerala’s commitment to building a skilled workforce capable of meeting global demands.

Surpassing Job Opportunity Targets

The Skill Kerala Global Summit initially aimed to create 50,000 job opportunities, but the results exceeded all expectations.

  • 1,28,408 job offers were generated through Expressions of Interest (EOIs).
  • Opportunities spanned engineering, healthcare, logistics, ITI, diploma, and graduate sectors.
